The recreation soccer program at Jarrettsville is designed to build fundamental skills in the game, provide a healthy fitness program, encourage fairness and teamwork for the children of our community. Our coed clinic program for 4 and 5 year olds is designed to teach children the importance of fair play, a healthy diet and exercise all while learning the game fundamentals of passing, dribbling, shooting, scoring and celebrating!!! Our kids play in an internal league (8 teams of 12 players each in 2007) on small fields with small goals. We play on 2 fields simultaneously in a 3 vs. 3 format with a coach from each team directing the game. Parents from both teams line the fields cheering on the kids, providing snacks and encouragement and occasionally addressing the boo-boo's that come from a bonk, wipe-out or collision. Our U8 program divides boys and girls into two internal leagues. In 2007, we had 6 boys teams with 10 players each and 4 girls teams with 8 players each in round robin play. New players are introduced to the game and quickly introduced to drills that build confidence and fitness. The games are played in a 6 vs. 6 format on 25x50 yard fields. The U9, U10 and U11 programs are played with 7 players on the 40x80 yard field. Players are given more direction on team ball movement and individual skill development. U13, U15 and U18 teams play full 11 v. 11 soccer. The program participates in the Harford County Northern Region Soccer League in the Fall. We play rec teams from Norrisville, North Harford, Forest Hill, Churchville, Hickory and occasionally Bel Air teams. Players are encouraged and coached to advance their skills and fitness while participating in a less competitive atmosphere. |
